We hope by now you have a good insight into our culture and the opportunities we offer. We hope you like what you have seen so far and that you will consider applying for vacation work or a graduate position when applications re-open in 2010.
This section of the website is designed to give you an idea of what to expect from the selection process. At the completion of each stage of the selection process, we undertake further shortlisting. Due to the high number of excellent applications we receive, we regret that many candidates will miss out.
Selection process
Our selection process is designed very much to be a two-way experience. It will enable you to make an informed decision on a future with us, while enabling us to select the candidates who represent the best fit with our requirements.
There are five stages to our application process:
Further information is provided as candidates progress to each stage.
Online application form
Your application is a very important step in the process. We decide which candidates are most suitable for us based on your application, so it's important that the information you provide is clear, accurate and well presented. It is also vital that you fully answer all questions and give details of all qualifications, including grades/marks where appropriate. Missing information may lead to a delay in processing your application.
Once your application has been submitted for review, you will receive an acknowledgement confirming it has been received. We will get back to you as soon as possible to let you know if you have progressed to the next stage of our process. This happens once all applications have been reviewed, usually within three to four weeks of the closing date.
Telephone interview
The next stage is a short telephone interview. This interview helps us to find out a bit more about you. It also gives you an opportunity to find out a bit more about us. In this interview, we will ask you general questions about your background, interests and expectations, and why you want to work with Watson Wyatt.
Online ability testing and behavioural assessments
If you are short-listed to the next stage of the process, we will ask you to complete various ability tests including abstract reasoning, numerical reasoning and verbal reasoning tests. These tests are done online and can be done from the comfort of your own home. Best of all, you get some immediate feedback on your test results through a computer-generated report. Because validation is an important part of any testing process, we may ask you to sit these tests again at a later date in our offices.
You may also be asked to complete an online behavioural assessment later in the selection process. But we'll tell you more about that should it be required.
Face-to-face interviews
The face-to-face interview is the next step for short-listed candidates. As well as meeting with an HR representative, you'll also meet with someone from the relevant area of our business. Because we place high importance on relationships and personal interaction skills, you are likely to meet a variety of Watson Wyatt associates throughout the interview process.
Reference checking
Reference checks are normally undertaken towards the end of our process,
however, you may be asked to provide names and contact details for referees
during the interview stage.
