What did you study at university?
My undergraduate degree is in Economics and my graduate degree is in Human Resources.

When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
It was a toss-up between Wonder Woman and an attorney. As a child I loved watching TV shows that showed attorneys in the courtroom. I always thought that would provide such a rush and then I got older and realised that being in the courtroom was a small part to being an attorney so I decided it wasn’t really for me. I don’t think I need to say why Wonder Woman wasn’t a realistic career option.

Why did you join Watson Wyatt?
I wanted a career with an organisation that had a reputation for being the best. I also wanted to work for a company where I would be able to relocate if I ever wanted to, which I did. I have worked at offices in San Diego, New York and now Sydney due to my temporary transfer here.

What does your role involve at Watson Wyatt?
I work with clients to make improvements to their HR technology and processes. The improvements might be in the way of implementing a new system, streamlining processes, or vendor audits/selections.

What do you like best about working at Watson Wyatt?
I love the variety. I work on different projects in different locations. In the past year my projects have included portal implementations, vendor selections, and process reviews. My clients have been located in a variety of places such as Texas, Massachusetts and Manila. The best thing about what I do is I can do it anywhere in the world—all companies have HR challenges and Watson Wyatt is global.

What things do you do outside of work?
While in Sydney, when not working I enjoy playing poker, shopping, being pampered and travelling. When I’m home in the USA, I am active with the United Nations Development Fund for Women and International Society of Certified Employee Benefits Specialists. I also sit on the board of my local homeowners association.

How has Watson Wyatt supported you with the things you’re involved in outside of work?
Working at Watson Wyatt has provided me the right balance between work and home. I’m able to have a life outside of work. Plus due to my temporary assignment in Sydney, I’m able to literally travel half-way around the world. And, I love to travel!

If there was anyone in the world you could have dinner with, whom would it be, and why?
Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci—I would love to be in the presence of greatness; the epitome of a Renaissance man. I have always had an appreciation for being a jack of all trades—a Renaissance man or woman and in my opinion there was none greater than da Vinci. He created masterpieces that have survived for centuries and thought of ideas that were ahead of his time. I would love to talk to him and hopefully get a lesson on how to you tap into your inner greatness. I think we all have it, it’s just a matter of tapping it.
