2009 Internship Program – Beijing

 Employment Application

Program objectives:

  • To help undergraduate/post-graduate/MBA students gain real exposure to working environment by providing on-the-job learning opportunities in a human resources consultancy firm.
  • To attract high-calibre students globally to support our future manpower plans.

Internship period:

3 to 6 months after March 2009 (the first 3 months of internship can be separated into 2 periods of time). We are flexible to the commencement date for internship.

The Program:

First Week

  • Meeting Project Supervisor and other team members
  • Meeting with Project Supervisor to:
    • Go over Project Brief including deliverables, timeframe and expected standard of work.
    • Understand the personal objectives of the Intern in the internship opportunity with WW.
  • Office set up / domestic arrangement

First Month

Attend the briefing session of Watson Wyatt (e.g. WW goals, values, policies)

Interim and on-going

  • Project Supervisors will provide day-to-day guidance and coaching to Interns throughout the internship. Interns are encouraged to actively seek feedback from his/her supervisor and other associates on their work and overall performance. The Company welcomes feedback from the Interns as to how we can make future programs more effective.

An interim review will take place approximately one month after the internship begins.

End of Internship

Each intern will receive a written summary of performance and a feedback session from their respective Project Supervisors.

Group Presentation Optional

The interns are asked to deliver a short presentation (10-15 min) to Project Supervisors and other associates on a topic chosen by themselves.

Relevant Resources / Parties

Human Resources

  • Provide overall co-ordination support to ensure the internship program is run effectively (including recruitment, liaise with Administration/IT dept for necessary set up, other HR administration matters such as contract preparation, payroll, follow up with line manager for summer intern performance.)

Line Manager/ Sponsor

  • Act as mentor to provide guidance and technical support to an intern in completing the assigned project efficiently and effectively
  • Review the work done
  • Provide performance feedback

Project Brief

  • Act as base for an intern to understand the project framework and expectation of his/her performance.

Preparation and Pre-work:

Interns are expected to join in a HR related project, basic understanding of HR knowledge would be asked as some pre-work.

Logistics:

The internship location is in Beijing. Intern will receive an allowance per month.
