April 2007: Intergenerational Report 2007The proportion of Australia’s population that is aged 65 and over is set to increase to more than 25% by 2047. At the same time, real GDP per person is expected to grow at only 1.6% pa over the next 40 years, compared with 2.1% pa over the past 40 years. This combination poses a significant fiscal challenge for Australia over the next 40 years.
Read more April 2007: Simpler Super UpdateThe enabling acts for the Simpler Super changes are now law, as at 15 March 2007. Regulations have also been made that contain some of the detail of the changes, and other regulations are in draft form. Final details are yet to be released.
