Federal Government Introduces Legislation Allowing Phased Retirement
On October 2, 2007, Federal Finance Minister Jim Flaherty released draft legislation designed to implement tax measures proposed in the March 19, 2007 Federal Budget. Of particular note, the draft legislation contains provisions regarding phased retirement. The introduction of the proposed measures will present an attractive option for employees who wish to continue working and for employers who wish to retain valued older workers.
