This case study presents the results of a comparison of ABC Corporation’s Canadian benefit plans with those of the eight other manufacturing companies selected from organizations in the COMPARISONTM Canadian database.

What value does human capital bring to a company? In 1999, Watson Wyatt answered this question through its Human Capital Index® (HCI) research. The HCI study was repeated in 2001 and confirmed that the higher a company's HCI score the higher its shareholder value. The HCI and other human capital research allows HR managers to demonstrate that people practices are strategically relevant, need to be included in business thinking, and require the appropriate investment for improvement.
