Ontario Releases Consultation Paper:
On July 18, 2001, Ontario Finance Minister Jim Flaherty released a consultation paper entitled Surplus Distribution From Defined Benefit Pension Plans (the Surplus Paper). The stated purpose of the Surplus Paper is "to find a balance between employers and employees in pension surplus sharing arrangements."
