Quebec Amends Regulations To The Supplemental Pension Plans Act
Quebec Bill 102 amending the Supplemental Pension Plans Act (SPPA) came into force on January 1, 2001. Since then, plan sponsors and their advisors have been waiting for amendments to the SPPA Regulation containing the details they require to fully implement the statutory changes embodied in Bill 102. The long-anticipated Regulation to amend the Regulation respecting supplemental pension plans (the Regulation) is now in effect.

Quebec Introduces Legislation Amending
On May 7, 2002, Mr. François Legault, Quebec’s Minister for Health and Social Services, introduced Bill 98, An Act to amend the Act respecting prescription drug insurance and other legislative provisions (Bill 98). If passed, Bill 98 will increase Régime d’assurance maladie du Québec (RAMQ) Drug Plan premiums by 9.6 percent, the third premium increase in as many years.
