A Seat At The Table: Watson Wyatt’s Submission To The Romanow Commission On September 11, 2002, Watson Wyatt Worldwide wrote to Roy Romanow, Chair of the Commission on the Future of Health Care in Canada. As advisors to the sponsors of health care plans covering over ¼ million Canadians, we were concerned about the lack of attention paid to the views and interests of health and welfare plan sponsors in submissions to the Commission and in its discussions to date. This Special Memorandum outlines Watson Wyatt's submission to the Commission. Québec Superior Court Releases Decision In Hydro-Québec Case On September 5, 2002, the Québec Superior Court released its long-awaited decision in the Hydro-Québec case, which dismissed a class action suit brought by Hydro-Québec retirees following amendments to the Hydro-Québec Pension Plan that allowed contribution holidays for both the employer and current active employees and improved early retirement benefits for active employees only. This Special Memorandum summarizes the court’s decision and discusses its potential impact.
