Q. What's your
day-to-day schedule look like?
A. The most important part of the job for me is
looking at spreadsheets and trying to make sure [they] are working
together. [One time] some things were just not calculating right.
It turned out that the vendor was embedding some other claims that
were not supposed to be
embedded in what we were trying to price, and so that's why it seemed
like they were giving us a good price, when they really weren't.
So,
every new project might seem the same in terms of the outline of
it,
but once you get into the flush of it, it becomes something very
different.
Q. How did Watson
Wyatt support you as an intern?
A. Watson Wyatt was actually very helpful, because
they knew school is always a priority. So sometimes when I had to
go ahead and study and not come to work, I was able to work from
home. So it was a very comfortable setting, and [my bosses] were
all worried about whether I was turning my papers in on time, whether
I did well on my exams or not.
Q. Why did you decide
to work for Watson Wyatt?
A. [When I considered investment banking], I talked
to friends. They would end up sleeping in their office, under their
desks, under their cubicle. Granted we have a lot of work here to
do, but that wasn't the quality of life I was looking for. I was
looking to have a life outside
Watson Wyatt.
Q. How do you see
Watson Wyatt progressing as a company?
A. What I really liked about Watson Wyatt and specifically
where I am working in the pharmacy area is that it is an area that
is growing. Right now it's a small group in Watson Wyatt, but they
have a lot of plans,
they have a lot of ideas, and there is a lot of momentum right now.
