Watson Wyatt Worldwide was formed in 1995 through an alliance between R
Watson & Sons (founded in the UK in 1878) and The Wyatt Company (founded in the
US in 1946). This brought together two of the world’s major consulting firms and
provided for a truly global operation, with 107 offices in 32 countries. Shortly after the alliance, each organisation adopted the name of
Watson Wyatt with R Watson and Sons becoming Watson Wyatt Partners and The Wyatt
Company becoming Watson Wyatt and Company. In August 2005, the two firms formally combined into one.
The Irish office of Watson Wyatt Limited was founded in Dublin in 1976. The office expanded
significantly in the following years and now advises over 200 clients including some of
the largest employers in Ireland. Initially, the services provided related to the management
and funding of occupational pension plans but since 1980 the service range has expanded to
include HR, reward (including benefits), investment, insurance and financial services
consulting, plus benefits administration.
