Each trustee forum consists of two sessions, one either side of lunch. Each session concentrates on a single issue, providing a participative environment in which trustees are able to explore topical challenges with their peers and leading members of the Watson Wyatt team.

September

Covenant assessment – the story so far and what might happen next:

  • doing the right job
  • successes so far
  • the way assessments evolve
  • monitoring systems.

Liability management and the road to settlement – an explanation of this rapidly evolving market place:

  • dealing with transferring risk and liability out of a scheme
  • offering former members a cash or other form of enhancement
  • attitude of the regulator
  • managing risks.

November

Funding and investment – an integrated approach:

  • the importance of sponsor covenant
  • journey plans – the right mix of contributions and investment strategy needed to get to your long-term funding target
  • dynamic investment and contribution strategies
  • the importance of governance.

Doing DC better – an exploration of the practical challenges:

  • the trustees role in a DC environment
  • design and delivery of investment choice
  • communicating and engaging with members
  • effective plan governance
  • impact of personal accounts.

Course fees

The cost of a single session is £150 + VAT (including lunch); both sessions can be booked for a single delegate for £200 + VAT (including lunch)

Who should attend?

Trustee forums are clearly labelled as suitable either for experienced trustees, who have completed TPRs e-learning programme (or who are seeking a more detailed understanding of selected key topics), or as suitable for new trustees seeking a basic overview and a solid grounding for subsequent training.
