Puerto Rico - INSIDER highlights
Several of the articles in this month's edition have to do with new IRS regulations or procedures regarding benefit plans, which would not affect most plans in Puerto Rico. However, employers in Puerto Rico may be interested in a couple of articles on subjects potentially applicable here:
(1) The article titled "Senate Approves Patient Protection Legislation" outlines the patient protection legislation moving its way through Congress. This legislation may well apply to Puerto Rico when finally adopted, though what final form it will take is still not clear.
(2) The article titled "The New Pension Environment: Now That the Glass Is Half Full, Why Does It Feel Half Empty?" outlines some of the challenges facing employers in trying to provide sufficient retirement income to employees and discusses some changes in government regulations that would help employers provide more replacement of income via retirement plans.
Feel free to call or email us if you have any questions on this month's "Insider".
