Watson Wyatt Strategic Compensation Survey
Brazil – April 2007
English | Portuguese

Report CoverStrategic Compensation Survey – over the last three years the most modern and complete tool that combines reliability and innovation to support managers in evaluating the external competitiveness of compensation packages.

In October of 2003, Watson Wyatt launched the first edition of its total compensation survey for the Brazilian market: Strategic Compensation Survey. The feedback from participants of the four editions was highly positive and essential for the improvement of the survey . It helped us establish the survey as one of the most reliable tools for compensation assessment in our market. Of the feedback we received, some of the most noteworthy are the following:

  • 96% of the participants reported that the Watson Wyatt team was always available for assistance in the data gathering process;
  • 97% reported that the job-matching meeting facilitated the data gathering process;
  • 96% believe that the jobs surveyed satisfy the needs of their organization;
  • 93% informed that the participating companies were sufficient to enable them to know the practices of the competitor market;
  • 97% understand that the deadline for delivery of the results is adequate for assisting in their salary review;
  • 96% intend to participate again in the survey;
  • All the companies that responded would recommend Watson Wyatt for the execution of similar projects.

Another important point was the growth in the list of participating companies – from 58 companies on the 1st edition to more than 130 companies on the 4th edition, an increase greater than 130% in just three years - as well as their relevance in different industries in the market.

Aligned with our principles of fostering closer relationships with our customers and providing innovative solutions, we would like to invite you to participate in the 5th edition of the Strategic Compensation Survey. We will also be delivering updated results at the end of the year.

    What differentiates this survey from the "traditional" compensation surveys?

    • The leadership and participation of Watson Wyatt's senior consultants, who have broad and deep experience in compensation consulting and survey design and execution
    • Different reports for senior management and for compensation specialists
    • Use of the Watson Wyatt position evaluation methodology, Global Grading System™, which enables companies to correlate market results with the organization's grading structure
    • A catalog of surveyed positions, which is extensive and reflective of the organization's structure
    • The option to include companies of your interest at competitive cost

    Total Compensation

    Watson Wyatt's Strategic Compensation Survey uses the total compensation concept.

    Using certified methodology, the model allows clients to determine the value of benefits to employees.

    Catalog of Surveyed Positions

    There is no single compensation survey design that works for large, complex companies as well as small businesses – and every structure in-between. So Watson Wyatt's Strategic Compensation Survey includes varied components, to address the variety of organizational structures in the marketplace. The comprehensive Catalog of Positions comprises nearly 400 positions — from CEO to assistant – that are found in all departments in most organizations.

    Positions Comparison (Job Matching)

    We will compare positions in your organization to those in the catalog, and will analyze the similarities and disparities using our Global Grading System™.
