Cut in employees' contribution to EPF

The employees' compulsory contribution to the Employee Provident Fund (EPF) has been cut by 2% as part of a Government package to counter the negative effects of the slowdown in the US economy. With effect from 1 April 2001, for one year (ie up to 31 March 2002), the employee contribution to the EPF will stand at 9% of monthly pay compared with the previous 11%. The employer's contribution, however, remains unchanged at 12%.
