Employers face new retirement and healthcare plan contribution rates for executives (dirigenti) under a collective agreement for the commerce/services industry, reached on January 23, 2008.
The increased contribution rates apply to the Mario Negri Fund (industry-wide mandatory occupational retirement plan) and the FASDAC (mandatory industry-wide healthcare plan).
As specified in the 2004 collective agreement with these industries, companies can choose to pay reduced contributions to the Mario Negri for newly hired dirigenti, for a period of three years following the date of appointment as dirigenti. The new agreement removes a provision that had lengthened this time to six years for dirigenti living and working in Southern Italy.
