Figure 1 shows the annual rate of inflation as at December each year from 1900 to 2008, based on a series of cost of living and retail prices indices.

Figure 2 gives the percentage increase in the General Index of Retail Prices over periods of one, five, 10 and 20 years, ending in December each year from 1986 to 2008.
