Value-Based Health Benefits: Increasing ROI in Health Care Programs
Some employers are finding that a new approach – called value-based health benefits – is producing significant and well-documented results of better health for each benefit dollar spent. The strategy emphasizes better clinical outcomes, deeper patient understanding of treatments and improved workforce health to reduce absenteeism and productivity loss. Its tactics include member support programs, tools, resources and incentives.
On November 29, Watson Wyatt hosted a Web conference, “Value-Based Health Benefits: Increasing ROI in Health Care Programs,” to discuss how organizations can use value-based approaches to engage employees, control health care costs and improve employee health and productivity. Specifically, we addressed:
- What are the components of a holistic value-based strategy?
- Which short-term tactics and long-term strategies are most cost effective?
- How can these approaches integrate with health improvement programs?
- How can your health plan incorporate value-based technologies?
- What communication strategies support this approach?
