For the past several years, real estate has been one of the best places for institutional investors to invest money. However, as the result of the subprime mortgage crisis, U.S. real estate markets are simultaneously being hit by a crash in the U.S. housing market and an overall credit market tightening. These events are causing institutional investors to ask:

  • How will any future investments in real estate be influenced?
  • Will existing investments lose their value?
  • Does this create any opportunities to buy at less-than-peak prices?

On February 5, Watson Wyatt hosted a Web conference, “Real Estate and the Capital Markets: Where Do We Go From Here?,” to answer these questions and more.
